We left the park to photograph sunset; the canyon is so deep, there isn't a good place to photograph sunset (except perhaps at the bridge looking toward the Watchman). The sunset at La Verkin Overlook was glorious.
When we started hiking up the Narrows there was a haze in the sky. As the day progressed, the sky cleared and that made the colors brighten in the canyon. We spent the day searching for the light to make the canyon walls glow, and for that glow to reflect in the water.
Water Pockets is a part of the larger Dive area. Amazingly, before this land was made a National Wilderness area, farmers grazed cattle here, probably in part because of the availability of pockets of rain water.
